I don't need your help; I am Self-made
Independence is not your enemy.
I dare to say the opposite of dependence is not being self-made.
Yes, I said it with my full chest.
hold on! before you wound me, calm down and hear me out.
If you are new here, welcome and take a seat- subscribe.
As someone who has always wanted to be independent, I have spent a huge portion of my lifetime rejecting offers of help. This is because I have always thought it was better for me to do it myself. That is by that that I thought I could have a sense of fulfilment. And every rejection of help was one less favour to return on my list.
It felt like a win. I deluded myself into thinking so.
As per super girl with the super power who doesn’t need anyone to help her.
My delusion clouded my reality and confused my definition of being independent or wanting to be self-made.
There is no such thing as a self-made man. You reach your goals only with the help of others— George Shinn.
There you have it.
To my fellow lovers of independence, I am not insinuating you will not have a contribution to your success.
In fact, you will have the biggest, because only you can put yourself in a position to be seen and heard. Only you can make the decision to be saved and only you can take the first step. You will choose to come out of pity and helplessness to becoming decisive and present. And that is a great feat on its own.
Accepting to be carried, held, sponsored by people who have seen your worth won’t make you an opportunist and rejecting it because you feel overwhelmed by owing them something in return is self-sabotaging not choosing to be independent.
Even independence depends on dependence to be complete. Nothing and No one is self-made wannabe God, okay?
When a person or more recognize your talent, your ability to do something and are willing to offer you an extension to take your gift further, it does not make you less accountable for your work neither does it make you less credible.
I want to believe you have lowered your weapons and are ready to receive me and this good news with love.
